Excursion to one of the Seven Wonders!

Agra, one of the most attractive tourist destinations because of its many splendored Mughal era buildings, most notably The Taj Mahal- One of the Seven Wonders of the world, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is a symbolic city of love!

The trip to Agra was totally unplanned, I was in Gwalior for some official stuff, got free early in the morning and had to spend around 8-9 hours in Gwalior with nothing to do in the unknown city, I was with my cousin and trust me we are very good at planning such excursions!
So this post can be a guide for a getaway from Gwalior to Agra.

Agra is around 120 kms from Gwalior, which means a two hour long journey if you're opting for train. We looked up for the next available one and plunged into it!
Travelling in the General class can be the most amazing and also the most disastrous experience for you, but I enjoyed it, the weather was pleasant and luckily we got a seat.(You have to rush for seats in the general class).

Certainly you can enjoy standing at the gates and diving deep into the scenic beauty of Indian subcontinent!

Just as we reached Agra, we departed for Tajmahal, taking a rickshaw from the station.

A look this time at the Taj will keep you indulged with thoughts superimposing your sight and would make you feel the presence of Shah Jahan, the Maker and Mumtaz Mahal, the Reason, as though walking along with you. Whence its breathtaking splendour makes you wonder breathlessly and you tend to pause for a while but to continue staring at ‘The Taj’, you would sense them standing beside you!

One knows that ‘The Taj’ is one amongst the World’s Wonders! One knows that it is one amongst the UNESCO World Heritage Sites!! One knows The Taj as a legend of eternal love of an Emperor for his favourite Queen!!! Well, ‘The Taj’ has distinctions much beyond just these! Therefore, ‘The Taj’, surely, deserves your visit once.

Food:

You can have lip smacking desi delicacies around the campus of Taj Mahal. We prefer visiting restaurants, but Agra is famous for its chaat and a different version of Pani puri. Also you can try different flavours of Soda, there are a lot of stalls in the campus.

Also Agra is famous for Petha(a translucent soft candy made of ash guard), it tastes so good and is available in many different flavours, you can get it from Panchhi Petha, a famous food joint in Agra for Petha.

Petha at Panchhi Sweets!
This is how my day ended at Agra!

It was a very short and an unplanned trip and we couldn't discover many places in Agra, but for sure it was a great experience being there, seeing the symbolic monument of love- The Taj Mahal and enjoying the desi delicacies!

If one has a heart that beats and that beat throbs to seek, the purity of love in galore! Surely one deserves a visit to ‘The Taj’, as much as ‘The Taj’ deserves your visit once, and more!

So enjoy your trip to The Taj Mahal, meanwhile I'll work on my next tour!
